David Schwimmer Is Refusing to Alter His Controversial New Film 'Trust'

David Schwimmer Is Refusing to Alter His Controversial New Film 'Trust'
David Schwimmer

is refusing to alter his controversial new film "" even if he loses his fight to secure the movie a lower age rating, insisting regulators need to update their "old" system. The "Friends" star steps behind the camera to direct and in the harrowing film about a teenager lured to a motel for sex by an online predator old enough to be her father.

The swearing and adult themes landed the movie a restrictive R-rating in America, meaning viewers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Schwimmer and his team are fighting for a lower age rating to make the movie more accessible, and he is adamant he won't be pressured into making any changes.

He tells Deadline.com, "There is no nudity, no overt sexuality other than what needed to be implied for a scene in the hotel room where we learn that a rape took place. I think the scene was tastefully handled. The idea that Clive's character should respond by shouting 'Fiddlesticks' is just not real. Let's face it, kids have heard and seen it all."

And the actor/director insists he's frustrated by the way the industry is regulated, adding: "What I find frustrating is there are plenty of films that get PG-13 that are so violent. There is a double standard. You can't show nudity or hear the F-word, but you can show people being blown to bits and chopped up. Maybe a public forum will show that the ratings system needs to be updated to reflect the times. It is quite old."

"Trust" hits theaters in the U.S. on April 1, 2011.

'The Hasselhoffs' Fired After Only Two Episodes

'The Hasselhoffs' Fired After Only Two Episodes
'The Hasselhoffs' Axed After Only Two Episodes

Viewers just lost interest in "The Hasselhoffs" and A&E is not waiting until the rating sinks. The docu-reality series, which follows 's attempt to help his daughters in the entertainment world, is off the network's schedule after airing only 2 episodes.

The debut episode drew a mild 718,000 viewers and the second at the next hour plunged to 505,000. For comparison, A&E recently also premiered a new series called "Storage Wars" which actually has less star factor than "The Hasselhoffs" because it's about professional buyers purchasing storage units that have been foreclosed on. "Storage Wars" drew 2 million in its debut.

The premiere saw the Hoff playing golf with his friends, reminiscing about "Knight Rider" with his dad Joe and performing songs on an open top bus in San Diego. There was also him getting a hot dog named after him, him walking off the set of a commercial, and him confiding to the family dog about his addiction to caffeine.

Another kind of cut also happens at NBC. "" which is yet to premiere is given only 9 instead of 13 episodes order. Although the dramedy had been marred with troubles in the past including the delay to midseason 2011, the reason NBC reduces its order is not for creative reasons.

Deadline reports that NBC bosses are happy with the episodes they have seen but they are running out of shelf space for midseason. There are at least 9 new and returning series which are waiting in line and "Love Bites" happens to be one of those which are yet scheduled.

In perhaps the most quiet finale in "", 30-year-old Brandy Kuentzel came out as a winner. This season Donald Trump gave people who have been affected by the latest recession a second chance to make a decent living through the competition. The finale on Thursday, December 9 came down to Brandy and Clint Robertson.

In the final task which was aired in two parts, Brandy organized a VIP golf tournament featuring while Clint arranged a dinner gala with . Both had a successful run but Trump criticized Brandy for her poor choice of prize given to the attendants. Trump was not happy with the way Clint oversaid "y'all" which made him "unpolished".

However, it looks like the final decision was made based on the finalists' visions of their future in the Trump company. "I would really learn a lot from you and I think that maybe, maybe I could teach you something along the way," Brandy said, adding that she'd like to work with his children because they are "the next generation of the Trump name."

Meanwhile, Clint left Trump unimpressed when saying, "I would go anywhere you told me to go in the world and I would love it, because I'd be learning under you." Trump said both of them deserved the spot in the final but had to admit that Brandy is "outstanding". He said, "I want to congratulate you Brandy" before turning to Clint and said "Clint you're fired."

Brandy said after the announcement, "Here I am with everything I had hoped to gain out of this entire experience and it's just... I can't even describe how amazing it is. I am the next Apprentice. I'm just so excited."

Ryan Gosling Blasts 'Black Swan'

Ryan Gosling Blasts 'Black Swan'
Ryan Gosling

has accused U.S. film censors of sexual sexism after ratings officials slapped his film "" with a restrictive NC-17 rating for an oral sex scene, while playing down a similar racy moment in 's new film "". The star admits he's "surprised and confused" by the hard rating and he can't understand why Portman's girl-on-girl oral sex didn't attract a similar ruling.

He tells WENN, "There's plenty of oral sex scenes in a lot of movies, where it's a man receiving it from a woman - and they're R-rated. Ours is reversed and somehow it's perceived as pornographic. Black Swan has an oral scene between two women and that's an R rating, but ours is between a husband and his wife and that's NC-17?"

Angry Gosling insists there are many more movies that feature graphic violence and sex scenes that get less restrictive ratings than his new movie. He adds, "You start to think, 'How is it possible that these movies that torture women in a sexual context can have an R rating but a husband and wife making love is inappropriate.' "

"A lot of people think, 'What's the big deal if it's NC-17, the kids under 17 can't see it,' but that's not true. What it really means is it can't play in a major theater chain and you can't have ads for the film on television. It stigmatizes the movie in a big way. What we're really saying is not that our kids can't see this movie but nobody can see this movie unless you live in a big city and there's an art house theater."

The Producers of 'Dexter' Said They Were Going to Give One Shocking Finale

The Producers of 'Dexter' Said They Were Going to Give One Shocking Finale
Exec Producer Explains 'Dexter' Shocking Finale

When the producers of "" said they were going to give one shocking finale that no other shows had ever done, they were not kidding. [Spoiler Alert] Rita Bennett aka Dexter's wife and one of the major characters in the serial killer series has been killed off and no one saw that coming. Clyde Phillips was available to explain.

In an exclusive interview with the executive producer, threw the burning question of why it was Rita who should take the fall. To this Phillips said, "The story evolved and it kind of became inevitable. We knew that we had to do more than kill Trinity. It's a little bit of a corner that we paint ourselves into. Last year we tried to avoid that and actually I think we didn't do as well as we could have." Clyde added that they had to raise the bar as Trinity's death would be inevitable.

On the Sunday, December 13 finale, Rita was supposed to hop on a cab and head to romantic gateway when she forgot her ID. She ended up being murdered in the bathtub by Trinity while baby Harrison was left crying in her pool of blood. This image mirrors Dexter's traumatic childhood when he watched his mother died before him and was soaked in her blood.

, the actress who played Rita, is said to be unhappy with the character being killed off. "She loved being with us. We loved having her with us. She took it... professionally. She was greatly disappointed. She's a professional. She works in television. She knew that this was a possibility," Phillips revealed. He also could not confirm whether Rita will be back as a ghost in future episodes.

For one thing, the writers actually had an alternative ending that eventually was not picked. "While Dexter was packing to leave, he saw on the television that a child murderer had just escaped from prison. Either escaped or fallen thru the cracks. So he's thinking, 'Do I join Rita on vacation or do I...' and then he looks towards the camera and he has this big decision," Phillips elaborated.

Rita's death is not the only shock in the finale. Deb found out that Dex is related to the Ice Truck Killer and whether she will find out Dex's alter ego, this would be the cliffhanger for season 5. Showtime has not arranged a date for the return but traditionally, it will begin around September.

'Spider-Man' Musical Failed to Win over Theatre Critics

'Spider-Man' Musical Failed to Win over Theatre Critics
'Spider-Man' Musical Deemed 'Dull' and an 'Epic Flop'

Troubled Broadway musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" failed to win over theatre critics following its first preview performance on Sunday, November 28, after the production was marred by technical glitches.

The show, directed by Julie Taymor and featuring music by 's and , has finally crawled to the stage for preview performances after suffering numerous setbacks as producers scrambled to solve a series of technical and safety issues.

The musical, which has cost more than $65 million to stage, was performed for the first time at the Foxwoods Theatre on Sunday, in front of reporters and 1,800 paying audience members. And critics are already issuing harsh reviews ahead of the musical's official opening date next January, with one writer at the New York Post calling the production an "epic flop".

The reviewer wrote, "Not even Spider-Man could avert this disaster. Last night's opening preview of Broadway's most expensive production ever, 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' was an epic flop as the $65 million show's high-tech gadgetry went completely awry amid a dull score and baffling script."

A New York Times critic detailed the night's technical glitches, adding, "The show stopped five times, mostly to fix technical problems, and Act I ended prematurely, with Spider-Man stuck dangling 10 feet above audience members."

A critic from the New York Daily News also claimed, "A fifth stop an hour into Act II caused some theatergoers to walk out," but was hesitant to write off the musical entirely, adding the audience "called it a surefire smash hit despite some kinks".
